Óbidos, Batalha and Alcobaça one day

Tourism tour with private guide. In the morning we go to Óbidos, a historic village surrounded by walls, full of remnants of all ages, from the Visigoths to the Baroque style. Continue to the fishing city of Nazaré, to know the local Sanctuary, where is the image of a black virgin who is believed to have traveled from Galilee to Merida in the century V, and from Merida to Nazaré in the year 711, connected with the so-called miracle of Nazaré. Also contemplate the beach, the village and the sea from the cliff top. After lunch in a typical restaurant by the sea we go to the Monastery of Alcobaça, Gothic, built from 1178 by Cistercian monks and classified as World Heritage Site by UNESCO. Inside we can admire the sculptural beauty of the tombs of Pedro and Inês de Castro, who staged a dramatic love story between 1339 and 1355. Before return to the hotel, we go visit the Monastery of Batalha, built by King João I (Avis Dynasty) in 1386, to thank the Virgin Mary the victory in the Battle of Aljubarrota against the Castilians. Example of a portuguese unique style called “manuelino” (late Gothic architecture), it´s also classified as World Heritage.
